Projects, Press Releases and Promotions As the primary East Coast Cinematographer for QD3 Entertainment (check out many clips of my work here), I've been priviliged to work with very gifted, driven filmmakers and talent on 6 important films about rap and hiphop culture. The film that started this, "Beef" is about the confrontations, competition and conflict endemic in the rap world. Sean Adair shot interviews with Russell Simmons, Ice T, DMX, Trech, Grandmaster Caz, Busy Bee, MC Shan, Marley Marl, etc. It was VIBE magazines "Best DVD of the year", and 250,000 units sold, as well as having long runs on BET. Follow-ups, Beef II and Beef III have been equally well received in covering the complex issues underlying without condescending to the fan audience. The MC and The Art of 16 bars go into the why and how of rap, illuminating the passion and dissecting the skills of top artists in the field.
Then, in 2006, Black and Blue - Legends of the HipHop Cop - is almost entirely my camerawork. In this case it was a true documentary path of discovery, exposing layers of justice and ethics issues. Director of Photography for Discovery Channel sequences on "Rock and Roll Day Camp". Infomercials for Platinum Television. Promotion, industrial and corporate work for: GHI, Heartland Brewery, Outrider, Petro, etc Camerawork and interactive DVD authoring on "An Intimate Evening with Nhojj" for the very talented singer/songwriter Nhojj (Produced by BC Video). The Wizard's Fetish Sacha Runa: Spirits of the Rainforest 2005-2006: As part of a government sub-contract for The US Army Corp of Engineers, Adair Productions produced, shot and edited a complex interactive DVD on the Fort Slocum Historical District, a unique military base unoccupied since the 1950's on Davids Island, NY. Over 100 buildings can be accessed through a catalog or through an animated map interface to exact cues in nearly 3 hours of narrated footage. 2005: Helbling Languages hired us to produce 6 narrative vignettes featuring American teens for Italian teenagers learning English as a foriegn language. Sean Adair directed and edited the segments, along with animated intros and original music compositions. Adair Productions has produced a series of videos for Zena Rommet Floor-Barre on this unique therapy for dancers, most recently with Alvin Ailey troupe members and Lion King Broadway cast. We also produced a youth video, and edited 3 other full length programs, releasing the library of 6 projects in a coordinated DVD release. We have produced all sales instructional and installer training videos along with a corporate identity tape on franchise Client care for The Closet Factory. Educational work external sites will open in a new window, simply close it when finished to return to the AP website. |
